About the Project
The Superheroes in Science Project is an initiative to involve schools in the creation of science-based projects exploring the real science behind superheroes. Students are given the opportunity to create science projects about the real science behind superheroes, Star Wars, and space travel, and how they can apply scientific principles being taught in their syllabus as well as recent discoveries and innovations.
The aim of this project is to stimulate students' sense of curiosity and fun, encouraging them to discover and research science through the exciting worlds of Superheroes, Star Wars, and space travel.
Project Booklet
The 2024 Edition of the Superheroes in Science Project Booklet is aimed at students wishing to participate and contains lots of useful information and ideas.

Project Rules - Current Edition
Please read these guidelines carefully before participating in the 2025 edition
Types of Projects Allowed
All types are to be presented online
1. An Experiment
A scientific procedure to test or prove a fact or theory or to explain the conditions necessary for something to occur. When conducting your experiment, state why you are conducting it, describe materials and method used. Graphs or visual presentations can explain method and results. Remember to give a superhero, supervillain, or Star Wars theme to your experiment.
2. A Visual Presentation
A project shown through photographs, graphics (even comic book style), and tables in the form of charts or any other visual manner which explains how it works along with written information. Include the superhero, supervillain, or Star Wars abilities or gadgets you are inspired by.
3. A Model
Models should not exceed 120 cm Γ 60 cm in dimensions. Create a project that includes a model, static or moving, to explain your work. Include brief explanations about the aim of your model project and a report. Give your model a superhero, supervillain, super vehicle, gadget, or Star Wars robot, space vehicle, or character theme.
β οΈ Safety & Prohibited Activities
- β’ Projects using any form of animal testing or experimenting on animals are strictly prohibited
- β’ Projects using dangerous chemicals or naked flames must be performed under strict adult supervision
- β’ If organizers deem the experiment or project to be dangerous or that it might harm participant(s), they may ask the participant(s) to change project or be disqualified
π Important Dates
- β’ Registration Opens: November 30, 2025 at 00:00 (midnight)
- β’ Project Submission Deadline: April 30, 2025 at 23:59
- β’ Judging Period: May 1, 2025 to May 3, 2025
- β’ Winners Announced: May 5, 2025
Student participation is free and voluntary. Online submission form must be filled by a parent/legal guardian.
π₯ Team Sizes
Students can participate individually or as a team of a maximum of three (3) students. Participants can also team up within a registered NGO such as Girl Guides, Scouts, Astronomy Clubs, etc.
π Competition Groups
Students will be grouped in one of three separate judging groups during scholastic year 2024/2025:
Junior Group 1:
Students in Year 3 and 4
Report word limit: 300 words
Junior Group 2:
Students in Year 5 and 6
Report word limit: 300 words
Senior Group 1:
Students in Forms 1 and 2 (Year 7 and 8)
Report word limit: 500 words
π» Online Competition
All projects are to be presented online via this Superheroes in Science project website. Everything from the application to the parent's sign-up and the actual project has to be presented online utilizing photos and videos.
βοΈ Judging
Judging will be carried out online by:
- β’ 75% - Superheroes In Science Team judges
- β’ 25% - General public vote
Winners will be announced on this website and via social media, while winners themselves will be notified by email or mobile.
π Prizes Eligibility
Prizes will be provided for a maximum of three students per group (Junior Group 1, Junior Group 2, and Senior Group 1). Winner projects can be an individual effort or team effort. If a team wins, each individual student within the team will receive a prize. In addition, a Certificate of Participation will be given to all participants!
